On Wednesday, my boss, Chip House, led an excellent webinar: Expert Advice on Hitting the Inbox. In the webinar, Chip, Stephanie Miller from Return Path, Jamie Tomasello from Cloudmark, and me took turns explaining exactly how spam filters work nowadays. What you need to do , to do things “right” and keep from running over the kind of landmines that drive deliverability issues. We’ve recorded here – I recommend checking it out.
One of the questions that multiple folks asked during the webinar was, “How do I test and confirm my email deliverability success and reputation?”
Well, there are a few different things you can do. You can plug your sending IP address into a website like senderscore.org(it’s a great tool that I use all the time), or you could pay to do inbox delivery testing via Pivotal Veracity or Return Path.
You could also use our awesome Reputation Audit tool. It’s a great way to quickly review all of the public data points relating to your mailings – it pulls together information on blacklistings of IP addresses and domains, authentication, content scoring, and more. If you’re an ExactTarget client, you probably already know about the Reputation Audit reports and have seen them before. But if you’re not a client, and are curious about your current sending reputation, just head on over to ExactTarget.com/reputation.
