Graeter's Ice Cream started their ExactTarget usage with a
list of more than 100k emails. The company had relied little on
marketing for the majority of it's existence but has recently leapt
into online marketing. After their first send, Graeter's received
such a response that they sold out their entire inventory! Today
they're using ExactTarget to solicit user generated content on
Facebook and uncovering the great stories people have about

Day two of the ExactTarget conference just wrapped up and my
brain is ready to explode - in a good way of course! My mind reels
at all the different ways I can leverage the ExactTarget platform
to support Schneider's recruitment marketing efforts. I can't wait
for the Audience Builder to be rolled out. This portion of the new
Interactive Marketing Hub is going to be a great addition to the
arsenal of ExactTarget offerings. I am also very excited about
Pulse and the ceiling view of our marketing efforts it can offer!

This week Mat, our Chief R&D Officer, and I are at
ExactTarget's user conference, Connections '10, the world's largest
gathering of interactive marketers. We are very excited to be here
because we want to bring back engaging content strategies that will
help us interact with our customers on a B2B level, as well as
ideas that allow our customers to fuel stronger conversations and
strengthen the relationship with their customers on a B2B level. We
recorded a short video outlining our top three takeaways from the
first day and how they can take independent pharmacy marketing to
the next level....Read More »
Digital
Marketing. Email Marketing. Social Media. Conversations. Content.
Blogging. Tweets. Research, research, research. Sir Richard Branson
(whaaat?!?), Scott Dorsey, Joel Book, Jesse Engle, Ann Handley,
Jeff Rohrs, Morgan Stewart, ExactTarget, CoTweet, BestBuy, Groupon,
Coca-Cola, Citi, Hotels.com, McDonald's, Threadless, Forrester
Research, and the list most certainly goes on. Train! Wooo!Where else could you possibly find this many people, tweets, and conversations all surrounding the future of online marketing? Flying into Indianapolis from Boston on Sunday night, I wasn't sure what to...Read More »
What is your biggest take away from Connections 2010 so far? Having
22 clients here, it's all about THEIR experience. For many of them
this is their first time attending Connections. The content and
more especially the warmth and interaction from ExactTarget
associates has made this a phenomenal experience for everyone. We
can't wait for IMH!

How
things change in 2 years. Not only the digital industry but the
Connections conference. I've never attended a conference that
covered new material so thoroughly with some of the best leaders in
the industry. On Wednesday I was sitting in the Content Marketing
Insights and a light bulb finally went off. Ann Handley said
something around having to have a content strategy first then
funnel up to the different outlets. I don't know if it was how she
said it, if I was open to the message or a combination of both but
the light bulb went off. I've struggled doing strategies for social
media, web...Read More »
The
biggest takeaway that I took from Connections was in regards to
social media. A common theme I heard in the sessions was that
marketers and brands have to be involved in the conversation. The
conversations will go on if you are involved or not, so either you
must choose to be involved or not. One speaker mentioned that
complaints will happen regardless, and it is best to have them on
your own social networks, where you can handle accordingly. The
overall sense I got is that a company's social networks are a great
way to interact with consumers and reach them in ways you otherwise
would...Read More »

There
only can be one number one. The best. Número uno. That is the newly
stated goal of Indianapolis based email service provider,
ExactTarget - to be #1. CEO, Scott Dorsey, stated that
ExactTarget's goal for 2011 is to be best in breed for email,
social, SMS and mobile services. This news sent the a conference
room of over 2,000 ExactTarget user attendees buzzing with Twitter
tweets, text messages, Facebook fan posts and, of course,
old-school email messages.A demo of ExactTarget's new Interactive Marketing Hub followed with new software tools and toys that will be released in beta...Read More »

Connections not only provides a great experience for all attendees,
but it also is a prime opportunity for businesses throughout the
country to connect. At Connections this year, I'm most looking
forward to meeting customers, who I've e-mailed back and forth with
numerous times, in person. Connections provides all the attendees a
great experience to grow in their skills and I look forward to
doing so side-by-side with many of my clients. Also, I can't leave
out Train! The concert will surely be a great time - a chance for
everyone to let loose and have some fun!

I am really excited about Connections this year because it will be
the first time I am going not as an exhibitor, but as an attendee.
Yes, Compendium will still be a prominent sponsor of the event and
have a place in the exhibit hall - but I will be soaking up as much
of the information during the sessions as possible. Some of the
sessions I am most looking forward to are:
1. Social Media for B2B
Marketers with Marcus Nelson of Salesforce.com & Steve
Richman of Genworth Financial
2. Email Plus Social: Sharing and Beyond with Chris Baggott of Compendium, Richard Graeter II of Graeter's...

I'm really looking forward to understanding ExactTarget's new
Interactive Marketing Hub. Working with clients like Compendium,
ExactTarget is becoming a one stop shop for all social, search and
email initiatives. On that same note, I'm looking forward to
Compendium's and ExactTarget's web-to-post day. I can't wait to see
all of the stories that come out of the show.

I am
excited to be attending the Exact Target Conference for the second
time. Last year was great, but after looking at this year's agenda
and line-up of sessions I couldn't be more excited. I am attending
the Content Creation Certification this morning and I am looking
forward to becoming ExactTarget Certified. This is one of the best
user conferences I have been to in a while. I like that ExactTarget
provides time and space for interactive marketing discussions on
the latest industry trends. I can't wait to take what I've learn
over the course of this week back to work to apply it to...Read More »
What
are you most looking forward to at Connections 2010? We need be
more strategic about our when and how we send email. With the
recent changes to email prioritization in gmail and hotmail (and
likely every other web-based client), getting noticed in our
subscribers' inboxes will be tougher. We want to hear how/if this
has affected others already, and how everyone plans to cope with
these upcoming changes. This post was written by Connections attendee Bryan from American Greetings Interactive. See more blog post from Connections Attendees here or submit your own.
