have evolved so much since the inception of the World Wide Web. I
recall first receiving a book on HTML for my 13th birthday and
being incredibly excited to begin making my first Web pages. (Note:
for those asking why I was coding HTML at age 13, I often ask
myself the same question.) Back then, you had your website
published on something like Geocities, Angelfire, or some other
free provider who was willing to take on the expense of hosting
while displaying horrific ads to monetise their business model.
Only if you were serious did you have a domain!

My last blog
post was from August 27, 2009 when I wrapped up my Slingshot summer
internship at ExactTarget, a leading email marketing company. Now,
I am proud to have graduated college and be employed full-time with

I'm vegetarian. At this point, some of you will
stop reading because you are baffled by people like me. No
hamburgers? No hot dogs? No Beef Stroganauf (yeah I don't have any

So, I thought I knew about email before this summer.
I had signed up for newsletters and fan clubs. I got the coupons
from online retails and bookstores. I even thought that I sent a
decent amount of email in a given day. But, I had a lot to
learn.
