How do you embody our Core Values in your work?
Being easy to do business with is a very important part of my work. An emphasis on positive thinking is key to succeeding and achieving that goal. We all find problems in our day-to-day work. I always put a solid effort into identifying these issues and partnering them with potential solutions -- in essence, I don’t start a fire when I don’t have the extinguisher in hand to put it out.
I find that approaching my work with this mentality makes it easier for conversations about issues to become “action items” that are successfully achieved. This is true even when my solution isn’t the chosen path, which happens quite frequently because I work in a building full of Einsteins. While it is easy to take offense to someone critizing my approach, I find it easier to listen objectively.
A college professor once told me, “Somone is always going to say your baby is ugly. Rather than taking offense to that statement, you need to divorce yourself from your work and maintain a professional attitude.” I’ve done everything possible to maintain that attitude in my professional life.
I strive to be easy to do business with every day by truly listening to others’ points of view even when I don’t agree with them. In addition, I can “make our clients look like heroes” (even the internal clients) because I really pay attention to their issues. I also have “an entrepreneurial spirit” because I’m always willing to absorb someone else’s ideas toward leveraging the best possible outcome.
