Summer Project

I worked on the Human Resources team and completed a variety of projects across our recruiting, talent management, operations, and employee relations groups. From updating and refreshing HR career fair materials to starting a Career-focused blog and Pinterest account, I learned about all facets of HR.

Favorite part of the program

I loved feeling rewarded each day as I contributed to the success of the HR team. I loved getting to know all of the teammates. I have expanded my professional network and have grown enormously just through knowing them. ExactTarget also did an amazing job of choosing the 2012 Slingshot class. We all got along well, supported each other throughout the summer, and enjoyed spending time together outside of work. I know that my relationships with them will persist long after the program ends.

Favorite speaker in Speaker Series

I appreciated hearing from Amanda Leet, our Sr. Director of Marketing. I loved hearing about her role in branding and growing our “Orange” culture. “Orange” was the number one reason I chose to work for ExactTarget this summer.

One thing I will take away from this summer

The relationships I was able to develop this summer made my experience unique. Every person at ExactTarget is so welcoming and invested in your development. I feel I have learned more from my superiors, teammates, and fellow Slingshots than I have in many of my classes!

Advice for future Slingshots

Take every opportunity to meet someone new. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Meet every executive leader you possibly can. Each and every one of them is committed to your professional growth. Lastly, say yes to everything and anything you can. Hang out with the Slingshots when you should be doing laundry. Get as much out of the experience as you possibly can!
