On the morning of July 20, 2012, thirty Slingshot interns and Catapult associates made their way from ExactTarget headquarters to the State Building for a private meeting with the Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels. Committed to retaining the best collegiate talent in Indiana, ExactTarget maintains a close relationship with the Governor and the state government. Daniels is currently finishing his final term in office. When he leaves office, he will become the President of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. Due to his impressive industrial and political careers, Daniels had much salient advice and insight to offer the group.
The Slingshot and Catapult classes were able to ask questions on a range of topics including:
- Daniels’ plans for Purdue University
- Career advice
- Where he sees the city of Indianapolis in 10-20 years
- Character traits that enabled him to be adaptive throughout his career
- Differences between working in the public and private sector
- What started him on his path to success
But this is not the only chance they have had to meet with inspiring leaders like Mitch Daniels! Through the Slingshot and Catapult programs, interns and Catapult Associates have the opportunity to meet with our impressive Executive team to get insight into career success. This year they’ve already had the chance to hear from leaders like CEO, Scott Dorsey or Director of Marketing, Amanda Leet on ExactTarget’s history and valuable advice as they jump start their careers.
Are you a current undergrad looking for real-world experience or someone graduating next year? Does meeting with executives and the Governor sound exciting to you?
