The Feeding Your Kids Foundation was a Power of One Award winner at Connections 2012. Since its inception in May 2010, this organization has powered messages to 12,000 families in 85 different countries, teaching parents how to feed their children healthier foods and instill better attitudes toward healthy living.
THE FEEDING YOUR KIDS FOUNDATION STORY
The Feeding Your Kids Foundation runs an international program to help children make better meal choices and develop a healthy relationship with food to avoid childhood obesity. As part of their work to educate parents, the team created a 42-day behavior change program targeted to parents and caregivers. This entire campaign is automated through ExactTarget—and the ability to automate this program across 60 channels has led to amazing success for parents and families around the world.
We were fortunate to speak with Carey White, chairman of the foundation, and get details on the program in his own words:
The foundation uses automated ExactTarget email and SMS messaging to reach parents with healthy tips throughout the day—especially around meal times. Following their great success, the foundation has expanded the initiative to create custom programs for the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Pediatric Comprehensive Weight Management Center at the University of Michigan. These institutions are taking the program’s success to the next level as they use it in ongoing research with their patients.
The Feeding Your Kids Foundation has successfully paired their powerful message with world-class delivery to reach over 12,000 families in over 60 countries across six continents. But the most compelling results come from the families who’ve been helped by the program:
- 77% of parents reported that they “became more aware of their own eating behavior and how it affects their child” through the email and SMS campaign
- 83% of parents reported that they “learned ways to improve their children’s eating behavior” due to the email and SMS campaign
