The Power of Hands-on Training

Posted by: Scott Thomas
Monday, April 30, 2012

It’s been said that “knowledge is power”—and at ExactTarget, we couldn’t agree more. That’s why we’ve always taken product and industry training seriously in the ExactTarget Academy. After all, when you have the right tools and knowledge on how to use them, you can immediately begin implementing the right programs to take your campaigns to new heights.

And when the opportunity to enhance your program comes along (right to your own city, in fact), WHY WAIT?

That’s why I’m so excited for the Solutions Workshops at our upcoming CONNECT Global Tour. On May 16, we’ll be headed to Sydney, Australia to...

They say that “two is better than one.” But when it comes to interactive marketing, I’d have to disagree.

I think that ONE is better than two.

We’ve all heard that siloed marketing is unsustainable and a thing of the past—if you keep your interactive marketing data separate from your social, website, point of sale, and other customer data, providing a cohesive brand experience for the end consumer seems further and further away. After all, your customers don’t silo their interactionswith your brand—why should you?

So, how can you unsilo your marketing and start functioning as ONE cohesive unit?

Connections UK 2011Connections UK came to a close 3 weeks ago, and as my third Connections event, I’m continually amazed by the content and sophistication of marketers across the globe. It was a true highlight to bring the world’s largest interactive marketing conference to London!

To recap the event, Jimmy Wales inspired us with the power of one idea by introducing community based technology. We also experienced the power of education through practical application of best practices through 15 different breakout sessions led by clients and partners.

In case you missed the event, feel free to join the conversation...

Posted by: Charlie McAtee
Thursday, October 6, 2011

International MarketingWith over 50 breakout sessions during Connections 2011, interactive marketers had access to hundreds of actionable ideas, proven strategies and success stories in every room. One of the highlights for me was a session that examined international email marketing campaigns.

Here are five of the great ideas fellow marketers shared with their peers.

1.  Make training easy.
Sean Mattson of Hitachi Data Systems stressed that robust training is a key. When rolling out a global email marketing initiative, Mattson found the best training tool was to create short video clips to build a robust library...Read More »

Marketing Automation Meets Cross-Channel Campaign Management

Posted by: Scott Roth
Wednesday, September 28, 2011
exacttarget and marketoMany organizations don’t fit squarely into a B2B or B2C bucket. More often, companies have multiple marketing teams, divisions or business units that focus on different marketing and sales objectives. One team may manage vendor or partner relationships; another drives online sales; while yet another supports a lengthy direct sales cycle.

We are in the midst of a transformational shift in the Revenue Performance Management market whereby:
  • The buying process has changed; customers now touch dozens of online and offline information sources before they ever talk to a sales representative or buy...

Connections Countdown – T minus 33 Days

Connections 2011One of my colleagues asked me about the draw of Connections 2011 and why it presents such a unique opportunity for interactive marketers to attend. Great question...and here's my response. When things are moving 100mph in your day job, it's easy to get lost in the everyday shuffle of production and strategy in your own world. But the time you stop and get out and have an experience- work related or other- gives you a new perspective, new ideas and renewed energy to tackle you biggest interactive marketing challenges. Now give that breather a shot of...

What Do You Think?

One of the key focuses of the Interactive Marketing Hub (IMH) is User Experience. Part of a great User Experience is to make sure that every task that our customers perform in our system can be done as easily and efficiently as possible. This requires a deep understanding of what our customers need to do and the problems they are trying to solve. One of the best ways for us to gain this understanding is for you to tell us. We need customer feedback and have many ways for you to share your opinion: 3sixty (Ideas, Forums, Questions), Contacting us directly (24x7 Global Services and Premium...Read More »

Posted by: Kristeen Hudson
Tuesday, February 22, 2011
Breaking Down the Interactive BarrierEvery conversation, every interaction you have with a customer—whether on Twitter, Facebook, Email, or SMS—is a building block to the way the customer will ultimately view and talk about your brand. Yet marketers continue to store the data they gather in separate, siloed locations. It’s through a solid framework of Strategy, Technology, and Operations that marketers can finally break down channel barriers and fuel the digital dialogue. It’s time to join the real-time conversation. It’s time to get unsiloed.

Nexus is born!

ExactTarget NexusToday is an incredibly exciting day for me because we officially unveiled our new global partner ecosystem, Nexus! After a ridiculous amount of late nights, good ideas, bad ideas, and everything else under the sun it feels so good to have Nexus out in the wild for people to see and experience. When launching anything, for me there is always an enormous amount of anxiety in thinking about how others will react and respond and today's event isn't any different. What's different this time for me, is that the concept that sits behind Nexus is not new or something we're trying to create,...Read More »
