They say that “two is better than one.” But when it comes to interactive marketing, I’d have to disagree.

I think that ONE is better than two.

We’ve all heard that siloed marketing is unsustainable and a thing of the past—if you keep your interactive marketing data separate from your social, website, point of sale, and other customer data, providing a cohesive brand experience for the end consumer seems further and further away. After all, your customers don’t silo their interactionswith your brand—why should you?

So, how can you unsilo your marketing and start functioning as ONE cohesive unit?

Marketing Automation Meets Cross-Channel Campaign Management

exacttarget and marketoMany organizations don’t fit squarely into a B2B or B2C bucket. More often, companies have multiple marketing teams, divisions or business units that focus on different marketing and sales objectives. One team may manage vendor or partner relationships; another drives online sales; while yet another supports a lengthy direct sales cycle.

We are in the midst of a transformational shift in the Revenue Performance Management market whereby:
  • The buying process has changed; customers now touch dozens of online and offline information sources before they ever talk to a sales representative or buy...

How is Your Brand?

Posted by: Eric Hannon
Monday, March 7, 2011

At ExactTarget we say that your brand is the sum of all of the conversations about your brand. It's an accurate statement but hard to measure. With the Interactive Marketing Hub we are providing you with a quick way to measure your brand: your number of Subscribers Fans and Followers. It makes sense and it's simple. If you have read our research on Subscribers, Fans, and Followers (if you haven't read our research go here and do it now!), you know that each of these groups have very different expectations and motivations for engaging with you. But there is also overlap between the groups, so...

Syndicating RSS can save time and easily increase engagementWebsites have evolved so much since the inception of the World Wide Web. I recall first receiving a book on HTML for my 13th birthday and being incredibly excited to begin making my first Web pages. (Note: for those asking why I was coding HTML at age 13, I often ask myself the same question.) Back then, you had your website published on something like Geocities, Angelfire, or some other free provider who was willing to take on the expense of hosting while displaying horrific ads to monetise their business model. Only if you were serious did you have a domain!

Fast forward to now, where RSS is...Read More »

Tapping into the Social Community

Posted by: Meg Clark
Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Today, over 110 million Americans are engaged in social media. But what keeps consumers coming back for more? As businesses and consumers continue to sign on and sign up, marketers are developing integrated strategies to increase engagement with consumers online.

Research shows that 70% of consumers who "fanned" a brand on Facebook didn't feel they'd given the company permission to market to them. Typically users view being a 'fan' as a means of self expression to their Facebook friends and social community. This puts brands in a unique situation where they must find ways to communicate...
