As a mobile Facebook user, you’ve probably noticed more advertising in your newsfeed. In fact, reports indicate that 20% of posts appearing on mobile devices include an ad of some kind. This is good news for Facebook and good news for mobile advertising. Why? Mobile usage will overtake desktop usage in the foreseeable future, and brands are already testing mobile ads with success by customizing their messages for mobile users.
What does this mean to you if you are a marketer? Consider mobile advertising as part of your 2013 marketing strategy, but keep in mind the following:

- Mobile Devices Are Personal: iPhones are housed in special cases, display personal photos, wake people in the morning, and keep them connected to the world. Some people even sleep with their phones. Remember that mobile advertising, if not relevant and useful, will feel even more intrusive on a phone.
- Context is Key: Mobile users are typically in a hurry, multi-tasking, and moving people applications. Keep the experience consistent with the application and information they are seeking to enjoy strong response rates
- Location. Location. Location. Retailers have the opportunity to leverage location-based data to deliver advertising at the right time, delivering special offers to users who are within a mile of a store.
