Gone are the days when brands and retailers told customers what they needed and where to purchase these “needed” items. In today’s retail marketplace the tables have turned. The customers are now in control and we once again have technology to thank. Through the Internet customers now have the ability to find the best price, choose what types of advertisements they are exposed to and can easily share with their friends and family what products they like or dislike. With this shifting of...

The actual
definition of online identity can vary based on who you are asking.
In my opinion online identity surrounds everything you do, say,
approve, and share on the social web. It varies based on what
social
services you are using (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc) and
whether you are actually being authentic.
I stumbled across an Ev Williams' blog post about online identity
in which he describes the
five pieces of online identity - authentication,
representation, personalization, communication, and reputation.
Simply put, you have to authenticate the "representation" of your

around the world watched what has become America's largest sporting
event. But viewers didn't just tune in for the game - the
commercials have become a massive draw, creating an opportunity for
marketers to make their mark.
Advertisers know that the millions they spend on a Super Bowl
commercial will buy them millions of eyeballs in hopes of driving
buzz to fuel their brand and boost sales. Super Bowl 46 saw
advertisers tapping into that power as traffic on Twitter, Facebook

In
her recent DM News article titled, "Restaurants
Drive Consumers to Dine Out with Calculated Email Coupons,"
Diana Dilworth reports restaurant chains are having huge success
using email to attract new and repeat customers. What’s noteworthy,
I think, is that restaurant chains like Pei Wei Asian Diner and
Taco John’s International have
learned that the key to successful email marketing is using other
channels like social media, in-store signage and mobile to invite
consumers to become email subscribers. To introduce its new Caramel Chicken entrée, Pei Wei used a cross-channel marketing...Read More »

Social media use by B2B companies increased substantially in 2011.
According to the Business Marketing Association (BMA), 89% of U.S. B2B

engage buyers. But while some B2B companies are reaping huge
benefits from social media, others are struggling.
Some B2B companies have found that professional networking sites like LinkedIn are an effective way to generate leads and influence decision-makers, while other companies find Facebook, Twitter...

brands and businesses to create a presence on Google+. With Google+

Retailers interact
with customers in ways unlike any other industry. Whether through
email coupons or face-to-face interactions at the register, you
have more customer data sources to consider than most other
marketers. But online and offline marketing still remain
disconnected, leaving additional opportunities for increased
transactions untapped. At the same time, consumers can become
frustrated or feel undervalued when their interactions with a brand
aren’t appreciated or cohesive.Plain and simple, consumers’ offline shopping behavior deserves as much attention as their online shopping...Read More »
