I’m going to let you in on a little secret – I love grilled cheese sandwiches. It truly is the perfect sandwich. Simple and basic, yet grows up as you do. As a kid, I ate the basic grilled cheese: American on white bread. Now, as an adult, I’ve moved up to more “sophisticated” grilled cheese sandwiches – with tomatoes or bacon or gourmet cheeses. I love grilled cheese because it’s the one thing from my childhood that I still find comfort from as an adult, yet the sandwich has grown up as I have.
All of this grilled cheese talk reminds me of social media. Think about it – having a Twitter handle or Facebook page is one thing – like the basic grilled cheese sandwich – but actually engaging in the conversation on Twitter and Facebook is something entirely different – like the more “sophisticated” grilled cheese. As ExactTarget’s Product Marketing Manager for Social and affectionately known as “Twitter Girl,” trust me when I say I know it can be challenging to keep up with the conversation, while trying to be the “expert” on all-things ExactTarget. It just doesn’t work.
Tools like CoTweet can help. Like your basic grilled cheese, there’s a free standard version of CoTweet so you can take it for a test drive and easily enable other, more qualified people in your organization to respond to Tweets (i.e. a customer service representative) or assign someone as “on duty,” so you know that your corporate Twitter accounts are always being monitored. And just like the trusty grilled cheese sandwich grows with you, so does CoTweet. CoTweet Enterprise gives you access to even more features like lifetime conversation history, engagement reporting, and workgroups to you can scale your social media efforts. It’s more important than ever to ensure that we’re engaging in a timely manner with our customers and prospects across social media networks. So don’t chance it – the technology is out there to help you do it more efficiently and effectively.
So, here’s to CoTweet – thank you for making my life so much easier. And to grilled cheese sandwiches – thank you for making my taste buds happy.
I’m getting hungry.
