It’s been said that “knowledge is power”—and at ExactTarget, we
couldn’t agree more. That’s why we’ve always taken product and
industry training seriously in the ExactTarget Academy. After all,
when you have the right tools and knowledge on how to use them, you
can immediately begin implementing the right programs to
take your campaigns to new heights.
And when the opportunity to enhance your program comes
along (right to your own city, in fact), WHY WAIT?
That’s why I’m so excited for the Solutions Workshops at our
upcoming CONNECT Global
Tour. On May 16, we’ll be headed to Sydney,
Australia to...

What is the difference between a Tab
and a Fan Page? How
is the Social Graph different from Open Graph? Marketers ask us these questions all the time and with
help from folks at Facebook, we put together a Glossary to help you
master the newest Facebook marketing concepts. We hope you find it
useful!

Actions and Action Response “AR”
There are a variety of actions within Facebook Ads or Pages
including when a user clicks “Like”, “RSVP” or selects a custom

traditional “Call-to-Action” like click, call or download. AR
stands for...

Today is a sad day and not because my Indiana Hoosiers didn’t
make it to the final four. Today marks the end of March Madness.
That’s right. It is officially over. The one month out of the year
where colleges pull fans from all over the world to unite under one
banner: the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. And every year
millions upon millions of people watch players from all over the
nation fight for the chance to be crowned the champions of the
tournament. We watched, cheered, cried, and shouted with emotion
that only division one basketball could create. However, it is over
and another...

Last Wednesday
in a packed house at the FMC, we learned new and exciting changes
introduced to the way that brands can interact with Facebook
users. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and VP of Product Chris
Cox were among some of the other top Facebook executives sharing
all of the new tools becoming available -- from sponsored stories
in mobile newsfeeds to display advertising upon logging out of the
social network.
What struck me as most interesting was the anticipated makeover
of Facebook Fan Pages -- where they now sport a style similar to
the recently revamped personal profile Timeline Pages....

Traditional retailers are seeing a major shift with how they
communicate with and market to their customers. Gone are the days
when brands and retailers told customers what they needed and where
to purchase these “needed” items. In today’s retail marketplace the
tables have turned. The customers are now in control and we once
again have technology to thank. Through the Internet customers now
have the ability to find the best price, choose what types of
advertisements they are exposed to and can easily share with their
friends and family what products they like or dislike. With this
shifting of...

I am going to
out myself. I am a movie buff and like millions of people across
the world I tuned into the Academy Awards last night for all the
glamor and celebrity goodness.
The annual awards has become one of advertisers’ favorite vehicles
to reach women and trend-setting upscale consumers who love
contributing to the $32 billion dollar a year world of
movies. Studios, networks and advertisers attempted to tap
into the power of social media to connect with affluent social
savvy consumers last night, and we took notes.
While the Academy may have selected the winners receiving the
coveted...

It was great to host Super Bowl 46 in our hometown of Indianapolis. Millions
around the world watched what has become America's largest sporting
event. But viewers didn't just tune in for the game - the
commercials have become a massive draw, creating an opportunity for
marketers to make their mark.
Advertisers know that the millions they spend on a Super Bowl
commercial will buy them millions of eyeballs in hopes of driving
buzz to fuel their brand and boost sales. Super Bowl 46 saw
advertisers tapping into that power as traffic on Twitter, Facebook
and YouTube surged throughout the game. At...

Recent mobile
research publshed by Pew Internet & Research
came like a text message from my mother: initially as a huge
surprise, but one I knew was going to happen sooner or later. The
industry has been talking about in-store mobile experiences for
long enough, but the data spelled out the staggering facts.
The zinger for marketers: according to Pew Internet
& Research, half (52%) of adult cell phone owners "used
their devices while in store to get help with purchasing
decisions." Whoa.
I'm one of them. When I purchased a refrigerator for my new
home recently, I called another store to price...

If you spend much time in our 3sixty community, you will see that a
common suggestion is to offer better ways of searching for
information within our products: Emails, Templates, Subscribers,
Users, etc. One way we have addressed this is with our new search
feature in the Interactive Marketing Hub Calendar. The Calendar
search feature, released along with the launch of the IMH in
October of last year, lets you search for past and future email
sends by taking your search word (or words) and returning any
calendar entries that contain it in its name or description
The IMH Calendar is a...
